Chief Minister pays tributes to Mini Mata, First woman MP of Chhattisgarh

Raipur, 10 August 2017 - Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today paid homage to great social reformer and first woman Member of Parliament of State Mini Mata. In a message released today Dr. Raman Singh mentioned that Mini Mata dedicated her entire life for the emancipation of working class, farmers and deprived sections of the society. She had contributed a lot for girl's education and empowerment of women. She spread awareness against untouchability,  child marriage and dowry. Dr. Raman Singh added that the State had instituted Mini Mata Samman to honour her memory. She had worked tirelessly for providing irrigation facilities to farmers in the State. She is remembered for her contributions in the sanctioning of Hasdeo Bango Irrigation Project. It may be mentioned here that late Mrs. Mini Mata was born in Nuhagaon Assam in the year 1913. She completed her schooling in Assam. She was well-versed in Assamese, Bengali, English and Hindi. She represented Sarangarh, Janjgir and Mahasamund Lok Sabha constituencies. She died in a plane accident on 11 August 1972 in New Delhi.
