Chhattisgarh Business Mission in Shenzhen, China
~Government of Chhattisgarh signs investment intents of USD 2.4 billion (INR16,000 crore approximately) in solar manufacturing, electronics, cement and electric vehicles~
Raipur, April 09, 2016 - Chhattisgarh’s State delegation was today in Shenzhen, the IT and Electronics hub of the world and major economic center of China on its fourth day in China.
A business meet was held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Shenzhen which was attended by around 70 people representing 25 organisations. The Shenzhen Electronic Chamber of Commerce and Shenzhen Trade and Investment Board and CII also participated in the event. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Raman Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Chhattisgarh said, “I invite you to come to Chhattisgarh and see for yourself what our Government has created for entrepreneurs like you.” The Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh, Shri VivekDhand and the Principal Secretary - IT, Shri Aman Singh spoke about the opportunities for investing in Chhattisgarh and about the IT Policy of State, the quality of industrial and urban infrastructure particularly in sunrise sectors like IT/ ITeS, electronics, food processing, engineering, manufacturing, Solar Equipment Manufacturing.The Chinese Consul General to India in Kolkata and the Indian Consulate General to China also spoke on the occasion. The highlight of the event was the signing of seven significant MoUs worth USD 2.4 billion (INR 16,000 crore approximately) in solar manufacturing, electronics, cement and electric vehicle manufacturing.
Shri. Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Commerce &Industries, signed 07MoUs on behalf of Govt of Chhattisgarh. These were with Asia Pacific Generation Ltd for investing USD 600 million for setting up a solar power plant, China Henan Bumper for an electric vehicles production line with an investment of USD 500 million and Hong Kong Jinyuan International Development Ltd for setting up a cement plant with an investment of USD 1 billion. The other MoUs included Guangzhou Juan Optical and Electrical Tech Joint Stock Co for the manufacture of security cameras and network video recorders, Kootion Technology for USB drive manufacturing, Risen Energy for a solar photovoltaic cell project and Shenzhen Fluence Technology PLC.
Honourable Chief Minister, along with senior government officials, also met several potential Chinese investors in one-on-one meetings. These included meetings with a delegation from the Shenzhen Electronic Chamber of Commerce, Ms Cindy Wu, Channel Sales Leader, for Microsoft, Mr. Zane Zhang, CEO of ODM, Emdoor, Mr. Leiqian Zhu from Hong Kong Jinyuan International Development Ltd, a cement company, Mr. Dacong Qi and Export Head from device manufacturer, Forstar. These MoUs are expected to bring in a cumulative investment of INR 16,000 Cr.The signing ceremony was attended by Shri. VivekDhand (Chief Secretary), Shri. Aman Singh(Principal Secretary to CM and Principal Secretary Housing &Environment),Shri. Ma Zhanwu (Consul-General, People’s Republic of China (Kolkata) and Mr. Y.K. SailasThangal, Consul General of India to Guangzhou province of People’s Republic of China. Shri Rajat Kumar, CEO, NRDA;Shri Sunil Mishra, Managing Director, CSIDC; Shri Kartikeya Goel, Director, Industries; Shri Mahendra Agrawal, Chairman CII, Chhattisgarh chapter, Shri Sunil Agrawal, Shri Ramesh Agrawal from CII, Shri Vineet Chhatwal and Shri Rohit Agarwal from Ernst & Young LLPwere also present on the occasion.
