State Government keen on building up future generations: Dr. Raman Singh
Raipur, 09 August 2017 - Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today said that State Government had been concentrating on building up the coming generations in the Adivasi dominated regions of Chhattisgarh. Education Cities had been established at Dantewada and Sukma and Prayas Boarding Schools at all the five divisional headquarter towns.
Chief Minister was addressing the International Adivasi Day in the capital today. He revealed that the State Government will be celebrating five thousand days in office soon. He greeted the citizens on the auspicious occasion and thanked them for giving an opportunity to serve them. Dr. Raman Singh recalled the supreme sacrifices of legendary freedom fighters Sri Veernarayan Singh, Gendhsingh and Gundadhur. He paid homage to Rani Durgavati. Dr. Raman Singh revealed that a museum in the memory of Sonakhan-based martyr Sri Veernarayan Singh will soon be established. He added that Chhattisgarh is developing fast to cater basic amenities to all deprived sections of the society. Education, health, electricity, roads, drinking water amenities and other infrastructure facilities are coming up in the entire state. Forest cover is 44 per cent of the entire state and 33 per cent of the population belonged to Scheduled Tribes. Top priority of the State Government is to uplift the deprived sections of the society.
Dr. Raman Singh said that former Prime Minister Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee carved out separate Chhattisgarh State in the year 2000. The foundation of development of State had been laid in 2003 with the blessings of people. The State had achieved several distinctions since 2003 till date. Eleven new districts had been created for the benefit of citizens. New divisions, tehsils and blocks had been formed. Six new districts had been carved out in Bastar and Surguja regions. Livelihood Colleges for Skills' up-gradation had been established in all the 27 districts of the State. Food Security Act provided food to all the poor sections of the society. He added Smart phones will be provided to 45 lakh citizens free of cost soon.
Chief Minister said that children of deprived sections of the society are taking full advantage of educational facilities provided in backward regions and are getting admitted to elite institutions. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi appreciated the Education City facility at Dantewada and called upon the model to be replicated all over the country. The Union Government had launched several schemes which gave new energy and direction to Chhattisgarh. About 35 lakh poor families will benefit from the 'Ujjwala' project which provides free domestic gas connections in the entire State. The development works will reach the last village in the State. 65 thousand hamlets will be illuminated with electricity connections by 2018. Network of roads worth Rs 35 thousand crore are being laid in the entire State. Adivasi Development Minister Mr. Kedar Kashyap, Home Minister Mr. Ramsevak Paikra and Forest Minister Mr. Mahesh Gaagda and a large number of prominent citizens were also present. Dr. Raman Singh felicitated prominent Adivasi personalities of various districts.
